Jani-King’s cleaning contract with SpaceX in Austin has inspired the company to develop a training program for addressing the future needs of cleaning on colonized planets and space station habitats. The first training class was held today and incorporated mock simulations including capturing dust particles and spraying chemicals in zero gravity environments. According to former baseball legend and astronaut Sidd Finch, the simulated conditions and events were near perfect. “What Jani-King was able to accomplish today was groundbreaking,” said Finch. “The great attention to detail and realistic approach they took in development of the space cleaning suit could only be described as breathtaking.”
While Jani-King franchisees are busy completing training for possibly their first cleaning mission at the International Space Station, the company is excited to give you a sneak peak at the nearly $2.5 million prototype used for today’s training mission.
