Jani-King franchisee and Buffalo sports legend Thurman Thomas will be helping more students in Western New York expand their education thanks to Jani-King and other partners.
With Jani-King’s recent contribution and those from other local partners, the Thurman Thomas Foundation is adding to its scholarship fund with Erie Community College. It will now pay for five students to attend the school, including paying for tuition, books, fees, and other costs.
“We’re really appreciative of the opportunity that we have been given to come back to the great city of Buffalo and put our mark on the greatness of this community,” Thomas said.
There are several requirements to be eligible for the scholarships. Students have to have graduated from a high school in Erie County, be of African American descent, have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and have a letter of recommendation from a member of the ECC community.

Jani-King’s contribution is part of a larger partnership in the Buffalo region with the Thomas family and their annual “Holidaze” charity event. Get tickets here.
On Friday December 13, Thurman along with his wife Patti and the entire Thomas family will celebrate the Holidaze at the Atrium at SUNY Erie City Campus. The Thomas family have roots, family, friends and success in Buffalo but more importantly a passion and love for the city. They have chosen to make a difference to people in challenging situations at home through the Thurman Thomas Family Foundation. Jani-King is proud to support Thurman and his family with this program.
