The Madison City School System is one of many shining examples of the continued growth and prosperity of the Huntsville Metropolitan Region in Alabama. Established in 1998, the school system celebrates 15 successful years serving the growing area of Madison and Jani-King of Huntsville is excited to have the opportunity to be a part of their future success.
“Like all public schools in Alabama, the Madison city system is under the oversite and staffing structure of the Alabama Education Association (AEA), which is easily one of the strongest unions in the state,” said Caple. “An outside janitorial company was never before allowed to clean these public schools due to all janitorial staff being part of this union. For the first time in the school’s history though, the Madison School Board was able to place one of its elementary schools into an open bid opportunity to provide janitorial and system wide floor care due to some shifting of staff.”
This is where Jani-King stepped in and stepped up. Only four of the Madison region’s top service providers were given the chance to bid on the school based on references sought out by the school’s Director of Operations, Patrick Connor. With bidding assistance from Gary Freedman and his team at Jani-King International, Caple and the regional office group quickly established a professional relationship and displayed confidence by showing the many ways that Jani-King is the industry leader.
In Jani-King’s favor was the fact that one member of the school’s administration knew of the Jani-King program and long-term success in serving a large catholic school in Madison. The Huntsville region also had an account with franchisees servicing a public school the year before in an outlying community within the region.
“We received a very favorable reference and recommendation from both of these schools,” said Caple. “Through our previous work with the schools, we were also asked to help define the scope of work for the elementary school that was up for bid.”
The Huntsville region pulled out all the stops in preparing their bid and presenting to the board according to Caple. “Not only were we able to sell them on the Jani-King concept, but we also performed floor work demonstrations to show them the results of professional tile and grout restoration with which no other company could compete.”
Caple and the Jani-King team that was involved in signing this account have a lot to be proud of and their efforts to break new ground within the Alabama school district has Caple excited about future possibilities for franchisees in the Huntsville region. “This new account is the beginning of many more opportunities for our franchisees to service public schools and to get our foot in the door of the other schools through project work such as ceramic tile and grout restoration as well as carpet cleaning.”
