Jani-King of Hawaii is taking on one of the most popular and impressive retail projects in their region. With 56 shops scattered throughout 44,680 square feet of space Shirokiya Japan Village Walk is sure to be a widely talked-about account for local Jani-King franchisees.

Shirokiya Japan Village Walk offers customers a unique experience showcasing a traditional Japanese town reminiscent of old Kyoto. Highlighting traditional Japanese culture, the store will offer a variety of Japanese food selections. Shirokiya Japan Village Walk will consist of four main themes: Yataimura (quality food court and beer garden), Zeppin Plaza (shopping alleys), Omatsuri Hiroba (festival and event square) and Guardian Spirits Sanctuary (good luck gods).
The design of the Village Walk is based on a traditional monzen-machi (a town built in front of shrines and temples) from Kyoto, where small shops line the winding streets. The seating area alone consists of 900 seats at square-shaped wooden tables under a sakura (cherry blossom) trellis.

“Shirokiya is a long-standing tenant of Ala Moana SC and has a history in Japan going back to 1662,” said Mark Pennington, Master Franchise Owner of Jani-King of Hawaii. “They started as a retail giant here and are one of the most revered companies and stores in Hawaii. Their Japan Village Walk concept is very unique, tying in a culture-driven food court with their exclusive retail operations.”

One franchisee and her 26 employees will be servicing the account which calls for day and evening porters, restroom-dedicated porters and no regularly scheduled overnight work. The full contract also includes general cleaning, floors, tables (in the food court portion) and restrooms.

Congratulations to Paul, Gina and Jani-King of Hawaii for the signing and successful start-up of this unique and high-profile account.
