Jani-King has been chosen to provide environmental services to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. This is the first, state-of-the-art healthcare facility in the country. The project is a joint effort between the Health Ministry of Turkey and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

During the past eight months, over 70 Jani-King personnel have provided ongoing construction cleaning in preparation for the facility’s opening. Once the facility is open for business, Jani-King will provide approximately 40 staff members in the early stages of operations, but will increase staff numbers has patient census increases.

“The Jani-King operation in Turkey is impressive,” according to Mark Regna, Jani-King’s EVS Director who was in Turkey last month to assist with training. “From the employees to the Master Franchise Owner, they take their work very seriously and it shows in their overall performance.”

According to Regna, the employees view Zapher Menteseoglu, Master Franchise Owner of Jani-King of Turkey, as a leader and somewhat of a father figure. “They (franchise owners and employees) respect his experience and knowledge and they are treated like family members,” said Regna.

Regna was not only in Turkey to assist with training, but he also went to promote both Jani-King and American standards. “There are no standards in healthcare cleaning in many countries including Turkey,” said Regna. “I was there to demonstrate operating room disinfecting procedures and to also aid the hospital in implementing an infection control program. The standards and procedures that we implement in Turkey can lead to additional international healthcare contracts.”

Turkey is in the process of becoming a member of the European Union (EU) and belonging to the Gulf Coast Countries (GCC). In order for them to be allowed this membership they must meet U.S. or European standards.

Jani-King of Dubai is in a similar situation. Dubai also has little or no cleaning standards to follow and the country is looking at gaining membership into the EU as well.

During his international trip, Regna also visited Dubai and assisted in bidding on one of the major healthcare facilities in the country.

“This country is home to the next major healthcare development,” said Regna. Over the next three years, more than 125 hospitals are scheduled to open in Dubai. “Jani-King of Dubai has an incredible opportunity to establish American standards and reap the rewards.”

In addition to the phenomenal growth in healthcare facilities, Dubai is also home to the largest waterfront property development in the world, which will include several hundred of the more than 600 planned hotels to be constructed over the next three years. Dubai Waterfront is the result of two years of work sessions and feasibility studies by world-renowned architects, planners, engineers and consultants. An unprecedented offering at an unimaginable scale, Dubai Waterfront is bigger than Manhattan and Beirut and will offer enormous opportunity for Jani-King of Dubai.

“There is tremendous potential for Jani-King to implement our policies, procedures and standards and become the leading provider for commercial cleaning services in the Middle East, Turkey and other developing countries,” said Regna.
