Columbia, Missouri – The Eldon Police Department got a new puppy! However, Rocky the dog is very special as he is trained as a Multi-Purpose K-9. Rocky is a German Shepherd imported from Europe when he was a puppy and it about 18 months old. His training level is for a Multi-Purpose Police K-9, meaning he is trained in narcotics detection, handler protection, apprehension and tracking.
There are a lot of costs in getting canines that are trained on this level for police departments. This is where Jani-King of Columbia was all too happy to help. The Eldon Police Department was looking for a $5,000 donation that would give them assist in the cost of a canine such as Rocky.
Any additional money would be applied to equipment for the K-9 Unit, primarily a heat alarm and fan for the vehicle. Jani-King of Columbia is thrilled to have assisted the Eldon Police Department in giving the $5,000 needed to have Rocky join their team!
